Performer

valerie-cd-coverAmerican by birth, vocalist Valerie Wycoff has for over 25 years made New Zealand her home. Her warm and vibrant voice has been heard in styles ranging from light jazz and theatre music to classical and contemporary opera and orchestral works. Her operatic performances include both soprano and mezzosoprano repertoire.

She has appeared as soloist for Orpheus Choir, Taranaki Choral Federation, Manawatu Sinfonia, and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. Her professional stage credits include Mercedes in Carmen for Wellington City Opera, Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto for Canterbury Opera, and for the Court Theatre her roles have included Sharon in Masterclass, Woman 2 in Stephen Sondheim’s Review Putting It Together and Sister Berthe in Sound of Music.

Here we have an intelligent singer who knows how to extract Gershwin’s style… Without a doubt she has a brilliant path in front of her in this repertoire.
