Originally from Nebraska, I live and work primarily in Christchurch, New Zealand.
My journey into this work started when I was a competitive singer in my 20’s. I was plagued by stiff neck, shoulder tension and headaches prior to each competition. Despite the best efforts of my doctor, chiropractor, massage therapist, my problems got so bad that I needed a neck brace to sleep, and gave up driving because I lost so much turning range. When I realized that there was a connection between my performing and my pain, I was afraid I’d need to give up performing.
Then a Feldenkrais lesson helped me to dramatically to regain the movement and comfort that I had lost.
I also saw my singing students benefit from working with teachers experienced in the Method. They improved so much that I decided to train and am passionate about supporting others to learn to make movement (and life) more comfortable and fun.
Here’s a list of some of the ways I help people
- Improve daily movement. For instance when I help people turn better, they say their golf improves, it’s easier to talk to their family at the dinner table, and they’re thrilled when they can back down the drive and keep their license.
- Improve breathing. Speakers, musicians and singers report clearer sound and less fatigue when performing or practicing.
- Improve movement for special activities. Clients improve a diverse range of movements including gardening, bowing the violin, squatting. Their movements become more fluid, and they often report feeling taller, more open, graceful and younger.
